Dr. Mary Claire Dilks founded Emerging Energy Acupuncture in 2004, is a licensed Doctor of Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine in Rhode Island, and is nationally board-certified in Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine.
As a teenager with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, she learned how illness holds us back from doing the things we want to do. At this time, she began to study Eastern Philosophy and Meditation. With holistic medicine and nutritional support, she recovered and made it her mission to help people overcome illness. Dr. Dilks studied at Loyola University in Chicago where she received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy. Always curious, this basis of theoretical thinking has proven invaluable in her practice of Traditional Chinese Medicine.
Dr. Dilks entered the field of Integrative Medicine in 1999 while working at American Whole Health in Chicago. After experiencing the transformational power of Chinese Medicine, Dr. Dilks enrolled in the Pacific College of Oriental Medicine, where she studied at both the Chicago and the New York City campuses. In total, the rigorous 4 year Master’s program involved over 3000 hours of clinical work,
Chinese Medicine, and Western Medicine Sciences.
Dr. Dilks has completed several graduate mentorship programs for advanced Chinese Herbal Training, including a Diploma in Dermatology through a year-long program of study with the renowned Dermatologist from England, Mazin Al-Khafaji. She applies the theories of Classical Chinese Medicine to address many modern conditions. Dr. Dilks also uses modern neuroscience acupuncture and other acupuncture systems to effectively treat many complicated conditions. Over two decades later, it is still her mission to help people find renewed health and balance.
In her free time, she enjoys walking her standard poodle, cooking using local food, hiking with her family, gardening, making jewelry, and crafting natural skincare and aromatherapy products for her line Pearl Apothecary.

Dr. Deidre Flynn is a nationally board-certified and Rhode Island state-licensed Doctor of Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine. She holds both a Doctorate and a Master’s degree in Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine from the New England School of Acupuncture at the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences— the oldest acupuncture school in the country. Her training includes diverse acupuncture modalities, from traditional Chinese to Korean styles, but it was Chinese herbal medicine that truly captivated her and continues to shape her holistic approach to healing.
Before her career in medicine, Deidre spent two decades as an account executive in the organic and specialty food industry. Her passion for food as medicine—a deeply personal and powerful philosophy—eventually led her to the world of Traditional Chinese Medicine, where the therapeutic use of food and herbs are central to patient care.
Her clinical experience includes work at Boston Medical Center, UMass Memorial Hospital, private practice settings, and the New England School of Acupuncture’s teaching clinic. Deidre combines her extensive education with a compassionate, intuitive approach to treatment, helping patients understand the root causes of illness and guiding them on a path toward balance and healing.
Deidre also holds a Bachelor’s degree in English Literature from Saint Anselm College, a background she credits with deepening her ability to listen and connect. An acting professor during her undergraduate years sparked her interest in Eastern philosophy, meditation, and yoga—an awakening that transformed her life and led to further studies as a certified yoga instructor and Reiki practitioner.
Dr. Flynn creates a welcoming and supportive space for her patients, with a clinical focus on women’s health, autoimmune conditions, cardiovascular health, and emotional wellness. She treats both chronic and acute conditions with skill, empathy, and a belief in the body’s innate ability to heal.
Outside the clinic, you’ll find Deidre enjoying nature—near the ocean in the summer or skiing in the winter—with her partner, their children (both two- and four-legged), and a home always brimming with life. Whether it’s a sprouting onion or a healing insight, she believes in noticing growth—and nurturing it.
